Hey Jim, welcome. I do my own valve adjustments. I have almost 50,000 miles (I ride a lot), The dealer adjusted them at the break-in, and I have adjusted them three times since then. the clymer says they should be between .002 and .005 (I think I don't have the manual in front of me right now). I try to get them right in the middle. That way if I'm a little off either way, I should still be in spec. I gotta tell ya, valve adjustments are little tricky, you have to have a lot of patients. ride safe all.
